The salon gallery "Die Möwe" presents modern art of the 20th century. The focus lies on artists whose creative work, due to historical events, has largely been unjustly overlooked. In addition to its shows, the gallery arranges salon evenings to acquaint visitors with the lives and works of selected artists. These evenings feature a mix of various genres.
Many painters, graphic artists and sculptors, who are shown in the gallery, were members of avant-garde artists’ associations like the legendary Storm Circle, initiated by Herwarth Walden, the November Group and the Bauhaus. The gallery focuses on the rediscovery of these outstanding and influential artists.
Our exhibition is dedicated to the multi-talented artist Katja Meirowsky (1920-2012). Impressions and experiences from her two lifeworlds Berlin and Ibiza shape her art in a unique way. The presentation is complemented by works by her artist friends - the sculptor Waldemar Grzimek and the painter Heinz Trökes.
