Summer Gallery in Warnemünde. Summer, Beach and Art
This year the Salon Gallery “Die Möwe” is taking up a summer residency. In addition to our Berlin location we are exhibiting art of Classic Modernism and, in particular that of the forgotten generation, in Warnemünde from July until September.
At Joost van Mar’s residence at Der Alte Strom we are presenting a range of artists whose work has been inspired by the Baltic Sea, among them Hans Kinder, Gerhard Marcks, Paul Kuhfuss, Edmund Kesting and Otto Niemeyer-Holstein.
Additionally, and for the first time, we are combining Classic Modernism with works of today’s artists. In the contemporary section we are exhibiting, at different times, works by Vera Schwelgin, Sabine Herrmann, Harald Hoffmann de Vere and Monika Meiser. To mark a special occasion we offer an insight into the creative oeuvre of the painter, costume designer and author, Sibylle Boden-Gerstner, who in 1956 founded the fashion magazine “Sibylle” which was renowned in the GDR.
Costal landscapes are a constant inspiration to the artists for the creation of atmospherically rich paintings. The distinctive use of colour and the great diversity of their work reveal the artists’ fascination with light, wind and water.
Let yourself be inspired by this art during a day at the Sea!
We look forward to your visit to our summer gallery.
Opening: Saturday, 11 Juli 2015, from 5 to 9 pm
