Into The Open. Nude and Landscape

Our forthcoming exhibition, focussing on nude and landscape painting, will take you out into the open. Two favourite subjects of visual arts are thus placed into a tense dialogue. In paintings and sculptures, various artists – mainly of the Lost Generation – present their views on man and the surrounding nature. Rich in variations, the conversion of these subjects reflects the coexistence of Modern Art’s style trends.

In portraying nudes, painters and sculptors not only find varied opportunities to express the beauty, grace, and vulnerability of the human body, they also disclose private and secret elements. Similar to the nude, landscape also is a bearer of moods, as its messages vary with the play of light and the change of seasons. So, occasionally, the border between nature and soul landscape tends to disappear.

Opening: Friday, 6 May 2016, from 6 to 9 pm. The exhibition will be opened by Bastienne Voss, actress and author, who reads texts by Alfred Polgar, with musical accompaniment by “Hans die Geige”.
