In The Shade. Works of Forgotten Artists of The Classical Modern Area

The official opening of our new spaces on Berlin's Galleries Mile at Auguststraße 50b, will take place with the exhibition „In the shade" presenting works of forgotten artists of the classical Modern era.

Following the disillusioning experiences of the Great War and the outcomes of the November revolution, numerous associations of artists, with revolutionary perspectives on art and society, were founded in Germany. From these groups emerged famous painters, many of whom have been forgotten. Among them were Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen, co-founder of the Hamburg Secession, Curt Ehrhardt, member of the Berlin November group, Curt Lahs of the Young Rhineland group and Albert Mueller, co-founder of the Stuttgart group, Üecht. Together with others
in the exhibition they provide an insight into the variety of forms of artistic expression in tumultuous times.
